DAMN: The DOOM of Fate, Death, and Time

Have you ever seen the sun shine at night? I’m a dark person. And I’m also a being of light. It’s not mutually exclusive. It’s wedded harmony in dissonance.

On my debut album, R4LD2E (released in March of 2022), there’s an intermission of conversation (two actually) in which

and I talk about how darkness isn’t necessarily “evil”, and may be a necessary “good”. The darkness we speak of, in that candid discussion of audio messages sent to and fro, pertains to our personal experiences of negative thoughts and our relationship with death. Searching within one another, we uncover the ways in which the two tend to overlap as symbiotic agents of catharsis for our psyche and heart space, which calls forth deeper reflection, thus light.

Therefore, in that way, as was the case in Memoir Entry III,

Truth, above all.

“it’s not mutually exclusive” — the dark, death, fate: the light, life, freewill — “it’s wedded harmony in dissonance.” It’s just truth. The whole truth.

Both, are both, beautiful and dreadful. A freedom and a prison.

In this visual podcast entry, I examine various dissections of the alluring idea known as “fate”, which brought me back through the aforementioned elements of negativity, death, freedom, and so forth.

Speaking of freedom, there’s a poem I wrote that’s titled, DEATH222EGO. It ends the R4LD2E album as track 24. In that poem, I said, “Fate spelled backwards is etaf, which translates to ‘you’, in ‘that other language’.” Do you speak the language of taking fate into your own hands? The language of determining your destiny, your time, your death for yourself? Do you think that you can do such a thing?
